Sunil Gavaskar, former India captain has given his prediction for India’s playing XI in the second Test against Australia, which will begin from December 6 in Adelaide. India has already taken a 1-0 lead of the five-match Test series after a commanding win in the 1st Test by 295 runs. Team India captain Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are all set to return for the second Test.
Rohit Sharma & Shubman Gill Set To Return In 2nd Test
Rohit Sharma had to miss the opening Test due to the birth of his second child, while Shubman Gill was not included due to his thumb injury. Speaking on 7Cricket, Gavaskar confirmed that both Rohit and Gill would replace Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel in the lineup. However, he also hinted that the team management might shuffle the batting order. While KL Rahul opened the batting in Rohit’s absence, Gavaskar predicted that Rahul would be moved to the middle order for this match.
“I think there will be two changes for sure, both Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill coming back into the 11. My feeling is that the batting order will change. Where Rohit Sharma will replace Rahul, Shubman Gill will bat at three, Padikkal and Jurel will go out of the team, Rahul will bat at six,” Gavaskar said.
Ravindra Jadeja In, Washington Sundar Out
Gavaskar also highlighted a very significant change in the playing XI which is that Ravindra Jadeja will be replacing Washington Sundar. India will be looking to take the dominant momentum forward as Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out due to a side strain.
“And one other change that could happen is that Jadeja comes in place of Washington Sundar,” he added.
