Jasprit Bumrah’s Heroics
On the field, it was Indian captain Jasprit Bumrah who made all the difference as Australia were bowled out for a mere 104. Bumrah took his 11th five-wicket haul in Tests while taking all wickets to end with the match’s fourth-best figures of 5-30 as India grabbed a crucial lead of 46 runs by lunch on Day 2. Bumrah began the day on a positive note as he dismissed Alex Carey for 21 off his first over of the morning. The back of a length-pitched ball seaming away, the edge was caught comfortably by Rishabh Pant behind the stumps, Carey.

Mitchell Starc: The Sole Fighter For Australia
Mitchell Starc battled his way to 26 runs off 112 deliveries. He had taken several blows to the helmet and shoulder, but stood up to them, upsetting the Indian bowlers. Along with Josh Hazlewood (7*), Starc put up 25 for the last wicket, going for very few singles, but defending strong. Despite their best efforts, Rana finally broke Starc’s stubborn resistance with a short delivery that the Australian batter lobbed to Pant, giving India the final breakthrough. The partnership lasted over 100 balls, underlining the challenge posed by the aging ball, which had softened and offered less movement as the day progressed.
