Australian skipper Pat Cummins praised India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah and shared insights of how his team plans to tackle him in the Sydney Test. Australia is already leading with 2-1 and a win or draw would secure the trophy for the first time after 10 years. This will also secure Australia’s spot in World Test Championship final at Lords.
“Bumrah is bowling well at the moment. He is always tough,” Cummins said during the pre-match press conference. “Hopefully, by the time I come in, late in the day, he has bowled quite a bit, which might make it a bit easier for me. But he is bowling well. I’ve faced him quite a bit across the world in different formats, and he always poses a challenge.”
Cummins didn’t hold back his admiration for Bumrah, calling attention to his brilliant form and ability to challenge batters across all formats. Bumrah has been unstoppable in Test cricket, finishing 2024 with an astounding 71 wickets in just 13 matches, averaging 14.92 with a strike rate of 30.16. He also made history by earning the highest-ever rating points for an Indian bowler in Tests, surpassing Ravichandran Ashwin.
