Shubman Gill’s Injury
The injury happened as he was fielding for the intra-squad match simulation leading to the Perth Test while in obvious pain and was carried off the field for further scans. It was revealed that Gill had fractured his left thumb and would therefore miss the first match.
Gill’s Potential Return In 2nd Test
If Gill is fit, and is reinstated to the playing XI, that may send shockwaves to the lineup of India, with skipper Rohit Sharma likely to be back as well, KL Rahul could be displaced from the top order. He might have to make a compromise by dropping to No. 5 or No. 6 in the batting order to make both Gill and Sharma play.
