The third T20I between India and Australia gets underway at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart, with the visitors seeking to bounce back from a heavy defeat in the previous game. India suffered a batting collapse to be bowled out for 125 after Abhishek Sharma’s 68 was the highlight of an otherwise disappointing innings for them at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Australia chased down the target comfortably to win by four wickets and take a 1–0 lead in the five-match series, following a washout in the opening game in Canberra.
When it comes to batting, there has been greater scrutiny of Suryakumar Yadav, Sanju Samson, and Shubman Gill. India’s top order needs to combine and show stability against the Aussie bowling attack as they seek to keep their series hopes alive.
Changes in Team
India’s playing XI at the MCG raised a lot of eyebrows, more so after the batting debacle. There is an increasing clamour for Washington Sundar replacing Kuldeep Yadav in order to give strength to the lower order and subsequently bringing in much-needed balance into the side.
While Harshit Rana played a fighting knock with 35 runs, he was very expensive with the ball, conceding 27 runs in just two overs, and that may open the door for Arshdeep Singh’s return to the lineup.
As for Australia, they will make a couple of important changes. The Player of the Match in their last outing, Josh Hazlewood, was superb with figures of 3/13, but he’s been let go to focus on the preparation for the Ashes. On the other hand, Glenn Maxwell and Adam Zampa return to the side as both power and experience are brought back into the fray.
