IND vs SL U19 Semi Final: The U19 Asia Cup 2025 semi-final between India and Sri Lanka at the ICC Cricket Academy in Dubai has been delayed due to rain. Puddles on the outfield are causing further delays, and as of now, there is uncertainty over whether the match will get underway. Officials have set a cut-off time of 3:30 PM IST for a minimum 20-over game.
Not just India vs Sri Lanka, the other semi-final between Pakistan and Bangladesh has also been postponed due to rain, raising questions about which teams will progress if the weather does not allow play. Notably, no reserve days have been scheduled for either semi-final.
What Will Happen if India vs Sri Lanka Match is Washed Out
If the India vs Sri Lanka match is called off, India will advance to the final, having finished top of Group A. Similarly, if the Pakistan vs Bangladesh semi-final is abandoned, Bangladesh will progress as they topped Group B. Both higher-ranked teams from the group stages would then contest the final scheduled for Sunday, December 21.
India the Dominant Force in the U19 Asia Cup
India, led by Ayush Mhatre, have been the standout team of the tournament. They won all three of their group-stage matches convincingly, leaving no doubt about their superiority.
In their opening match against the United Arab Emirates, India posted over 430 runs, with Vaibhav Suryavanshi scoring 171 off 95 balls. The next game against Pakistan saw India score 240, but their bowling attack ensured a 90-run victory. Against Malaysia in the final group match, India again crossed 400 runs, powered by Abhigyan Kundu’s double century.
The U19 Asia Cup serves as a key preparation for India ahead of the U19 World Cup in January 2026, giving the young side valuable experience in high-pressure matches.
