ICC ODI Ranking: Amid the ongoing Asia Cup and months before World Cup 2023, ICC has announced the latest ODI rankings. Pakistan captain Babar Azam has retained his top ODI batsman ranking, while Indian batsman Shubman Gill has made a quantum leap and is now at No. 3 in the ODI batsman rankings, the highest among all Indian players.
Shubhman Gill’s leap came after Gill’s brilliant 67 runs innings against Nepal in Match 5 of the Asia Cup 2023. Gill had a great opening partnership with captain Rohit Sharma.
Ishan Kishan is included in the Top 25
Ishan Kishan, who has been a consistent run scorer in ODI secured a place in the top 25 of the rankings. He played an impressive innings against Pakistan. Kishan’s resilient innings helped India stabilize their innings.
Shaheen Afridi’s entry in the top 5
Pakistani left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi, who wreaked havoc by taking 4 wickets against India in Asia Cup 2023, has also done wonders in the ICC rankings. He has reached the top 5. Shaheen has left Mujeeb ur Rehman behind. Josh Hazlewood is still at the top. At the same time, Mitchell Starc occupies the second place.
