India faced a shocking defeat against Kuwait in the Hong Kong Sixes on Saturday, November 8. Batting first, Kuwait had posted a target of 106 runs at the loss of five wickets in six overs. But Team India couldn’t sustain for long and was bowled out for just 79 runs in 5.4 overs which meant that they were left just 27 runs short. This was India’s second match of the tournament after their rain-affected win against Pakistan in the opening match.
In the match, the Indian captain Dinesh Karthik won the toss and opted to bowl first. Even though Kuwait had a shaky start – losing five wickets for just 57 runs in 4.2 overs. Yasin Patel came as a game-changer and turned the game around for Kuwait. Patel played a unbeaten knock of 58 runs in just 14 balls – his innings included 2 fours and 8 sixes which in turn helped Kuwait set a competitive total of 106 runs.

India on the other hand was chasing 107 and they got off to a disastrous start as Robin Uthappa was dismissed for a duck at the very first ball of the second innings. Dinesh Karthik also didn’t last for long and was dismissed quickly at the score of 8 runs in the fifth delivery of opening over.
Stuart Binny also was dismissed quickly at the score of 2 and India never stitched a solid partnership. The whole team was bundled at the score of 79 runs following which Kuwait emerged victorious with their dominant performance on field.
