Good news for Team India! Shubman Gill begins crucial rehab at BCCI CoE, might start batting this week: Report

As Gill reaches the Bengaluru facility, his recovery will move into a more stable phase. Under the supervision of BCCI’s medical and performance team.

Indian captain Shubman Gill is set to begin a crucial phase of his injury recovery, with his rehabilitation set to start at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from December 1 as reported by Times of India. Gill has been out of action since sustaining a neck injury during the opening test against South Africa. The unexpected setback not only ruled him out from the Test series but also from the ODI series against Proteas as well. Over the last few days Shubman’s recovery has been monitored through many medical checks and early signs have been a positive mark.

“There are no red flags at the moment and he has taken multiple flights – Kolkata to Guwahati, Guwahati to Mumbai, Mumbai to Chandigarh and now Chandigarh to Bengaluru – without any discomfort. All efforts right now are aimed at having him back on the park but it will not be a rushed process.

Once Gill reaches the Bengaluru facility, his recovery will move into a more stable phase. Under the supervision of BCCI’s medical and performance team. Shubman will go through physiotherapy, mobility restoration and gradual workload buildup. If everything progresses smoothly, Gill is likely to pick up the bat and leadership role again. However the Indian cricket board is very cautious in his case. The management has cleared that, they’ll not rush any process and keep things moving in a detailed manner. Gill’s return to the field will depend on the earlier results of all physical examinations and medical clearances. GFill’s comfort level while training will play a major role in decisive outcome.

With the T20 series against the Proteas just a week away, speculations about his return are circulating everywhere. However, BCCI is considering a long term plan rather than a risky hurried return. The team management wants Gill to only return on the field once he is completely ready, both physically and mentally . For now all eyes will remain set on the rehabilitation process, as fans and cricket fraternity hope to see the Indian captain back in action soon.
