Glenn Maxwell who suffered a fractured finger during the 2025 IPL season has taken a big step and opted out of IPL 2026. The Australian all-rounder was notably absent from the list of players that will be available for the mini-auction which is scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi.

Maxwell had a very disappointing campaign in IPL 2025 - he just scored 78 runs and took 4 wickets in nine matches after which he was sidelined with a finger injury. His underwhelming performance was the reason Punjab Kings released him ahead of the auction. He made his debut in IPL in 2012 and even earned the name of "Big Show" for his aggressive hitting. But in the recent years he has struggled to perform and his performance also raised many questions.

The IPL mini-auction will be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi where many big names will go under the hammer. But now with no confirmation about Maxwell, all eyes will be on another Australian all-rounder Cameron Green who is most likely to achieve the highest bid in the room with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) as top contenders in the race to acquire him.
