India produced a power-packed all-around performance at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, crushing out England in the fifth and last T20I. Opener Abhishek Sharma made an explosive 135 off 54 balls, claiming the second quickest century in history of T20Is and it was the biggest score by a batter for the Indian team from the format so far. Behind Abhishek’s breathtaking play, the fielding also especially deserved a separate mention. Apart from Phil Salt’s fighting knock of 23 off 55 balls, the rest of the England line-up was sent back cheaply as they could not clear the boundaries.
India’s fielding was great, with some excellent catches, but it was Varun Chakravarthy’s sensational effort at long-on that really caught the eye of head coach Gautam Gambhir. It came off the first ball of the 8th over when Brydon Carse went for a mighty slog off Abhishek’s bowling, only to see Chakravarthy cover quite some distance and pull the ball out of the air near the boundary.

Gambhir, sitting near the dugout, could not help but express his excitement and gave an animated reaction to the spectacular catch. With a 150-run victory, India secured their second-largest margin of victory in T20Is, only behind their 168-run win over New Zealand in 2023.
