Australia's former cricketer Shane Watson has showered praise for India's opener Abhishek Sharma who has shown explosive batting in the T20 format. Watson called him one of the most exciting batters to watch in modern day cricket. Over the past year, Abhishek Sharma has shown immense improvement and played with fearless approach. His stunning performances also led him to No.1 spot in the ICC T20I batting rankings.

Watson heaped huge praise for Abhishek Sharma and highlighted about his fearless playing while adapting to the situation accordingly.

"He is an absolute treat to watch. He's incredibly good, isn't he? He is so fearless, but then he's got the skill to be able to adapt to whatever's required as well," Watson said.

"It's been special to see his evolution over the last two or three years, from when he first came in, got opportunities for Sunrisers Hyderabad. And then seeing him just continue to explode like he has. He's got all the different gears, he's got all the different shots against different bowlers in different conditions as well."

Watson even mentioned about Abhishek's IPL achievements and how he evolved from a raw, promising youngster at Sunrisers Hyderabad to a mature, power-packed performer who can dominate across conditions and against all kinds of bowlers.

Abhishek Sharma made his debut during the Zimbabwe tour and showed his brilliance as he scored 125 runs in five games with an impressive strike rate of 174.65. Even though he was dropped in series against Sri Lanka he made a modest comeback against Bangladesh. But Sharma truly flourished in the five-match T20I series against England, where he smashed 279 runs with an average of 55.50 and an excellent strike rate of 219.69. He further carried his strong form in Asia Cup 2025 which India won - Abhishek scored 314 runs and he has now established himself as a gun player.
