The Indian Team is all set to tour Australia later this month and both the teams will be facing each other for three-match ODI series then five-match T20I series. But one of the most important factor is that both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be making an appearance in the ODIs. With Shubman Gill appointed as the new ODI captain of India replacing Rohit Sharma, this will be the first time the legendary duo will be playing under Gill’s leadership.
But there is a new speculation that both Rohit and Virat will be retiring from the ODIs as well, which means they will be hanging their boots from international cricket. It has also been reported that Cricket Australia is also preparing to give the two icons a special farewell in the upcoming tour.
According to News24 sources, Cricket Australia is planning to give a farewell to both Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Even though the final decision will depend on the two players if they wish to accept it. Even if they decline, they will be presented with special mementos from Australia as a recognition of for their contributions. It is also known that fan groups like Fan India and Bharat Army are preparing to give a special tribute to them in the ODI series.
Rajul Sharma, who is the head of Fans India group confirmed this to News24 saying: “The atmosphere in Australia is already electric ahead of India’s tour. Fans are traveling from across the country to watch the matches. All tickets for the three ODIs are sold out, which shows how excited everyone is. We want to thank Rohit and Virat for their incredible careers. During the series, you’ll see posters and jerseys with their names in the stands.”
