ENG Vs SA: Harry Brook’s Sharp Statement On England’s Loss In 2nd ODI, Says ‘I Probably Got It Wrong…’

After the 2nd loss, Brook praised South Africa for their game-play and highlighted the loopholes in which England needs to work on.

England’s white-ball captain Harry Brook has urged the team players to stay resilient and push through the hectic calendar after the loss in 2nd ODI against South Africa. This is second successive ODI series victory for South Africa, having earlier beaten Australia in their backyard. Most importantly, this is their first ODI series win in England since 1998, highlighting a major boost for Bavuma’s team.

England, however, continues to struggle in the 50-over game against South Africa, with their recent bilateral ODI series victory over the Proteas in 2017 being the last one. The five-run loss is also South Africa’s second-closest victory over England in ODIs, only behind their legendary one-run victory in Cape Town back in 2000.

“We want to try and play our strongest side in every white-ball game. We’ve World Cups coming up — the T20 World Cup this winter and the one-day World Cup the following winter.

“It’s easy to say that (we’re tired), but in my eyes that’s just an excuse. We’re good enough and fit enough to be able to keep playing for the time being.”

“We felt they (South Africa) were 10 or 15 above par, so it was a very good effort for us to get within one blow of their score,” he said.

“I probably got it wrong on one occasion when I bowled Jacksy from the Pavilion End to the right-handers hitting it down the hill,” said Brook.
