Recently BCCI issued an update and mentioned that Rishabh Pant injured his left index finger on day 1 of England vs India, 3rd Test at Lords.

Rishabh Pant injured his left index finger on Day 1 of Lords Test

On Day 1 of the Lord’s Test wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant walked off the field with an injury to his left hand. This happened around the 34th over, when Pant seemed to hurt a finger on his left hand while picking up balls that ran down leg from Jasprit Bumrah.

Recently BCCI issued an update and mentioned that Rishabh Pant injured his left index finger. “Team India vice-captain Rishabh Pant got hit on his left index finger. He is receiving treatment at the moment and under the supervision of the medical team. Dhruv Jurel is currently keeping wickets in Rishabh’s absence.” BCCI mentioned on X, formerly Twitter

What Happens If Rishabh Pant Doesn't Play?

As per the ICC’s announcement last month, “A player who suffers a serious injury on the field of play at any time after the match has started (including any pre-match warm-up period) may be replaced for the remainder of the match by a fully participating like-for-like player.”

However this rule only applies for Domestic Cricket as in Test cricket Jurel won’t be allowed to replace pant as a ‘fully participating player.’ Currently, full player replacements are permitted only in cases of concussion which does not apply to Rishabh Pant’s situation.
