India is currently playing the fourth Test against England at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. But one of the decision that stunned many fans and experts was of Karun Nair being left out of the playing XI. He was replaced by Sai Sudharsan, who is playing the second Test match of his career and has already hit a half-century.
The other changes in the match were – debutant Anshul Kamboj and Shardul Thakur were added to the playing XI. These two players replaced the injured Nitish Kumar Reddy and Akash Deep.
Karun Nair waited for eight years to make his comeback in the Test format, and now, just when he was just trying to make a comeback, he was dropped after playing only two Tests against England. Fans and cricket pundits feel that he deserved one more chance. Former Indian cricketer Mohammed Kaif wrote on X: “Today was Shubman Gill’s chance to back karun who was down but deserved one more chance. He should have picked Karun Nair. Chance missed to earn the respect when it comes to making tough decisions as a leader.”

#KarunNair should have got atleast two more chances and probably one more in India too as you believe in a player who is good to be in your 11 should get a long rope. Just throwing out after 3 matches won't help. Hope he gets a few more chances.

#KarunNair dropped. Feels like that last Test was not just his final game, but the end of his international career. No more chances now neither from from BCCI, not even from fans. Thank you Karun, for the memories. Happy retirement in Advance. #INDvsENG pic.twitter.com/BVj6TSjq31
