India vs England 4th Test has successfully ended as India made a great comeback leading the match into a draw from the jaws of defeat. England will carry the lead of 2-1 in the fifth and final Test with Shubman Gill and co. still having a chance to level the series. Indian all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar held the nerve and remained not out till the very end. In the second innings, India received a jolt at the start with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sai Sudharsan falling for a duck but India made a strong comeback into the game which was led by KL Rahul (90) and Shubman Gill’s (103) partnership. The England bowlers were put on backfoot as the Indian batters held their nerve and build huge pressure on them.
Washington Sundar (101) also slammed his maiden hundred and Ravindra Jadeja (107) also contributed with a magnificent century.
In the first innings India had set a target of 358 runs with complete batting effort from Yashasvi Jaiswal (58). KL Rahul (46), Sai Sudharsan (61), Rishabh Pant (54), and Shardul Thakur (41). On day 1 of 4th Test, India received a big setback when Rishabh Pant was retired hurt after the ball hit his foot leaving him in immense pain following which he was escorted off the field in a buggy. He was sent for scans to a hospital and the reports highlighted that he has a toe fracture and doctors advised him six weeks of rest. But Pant defied all odds and came to bat in on the second day like a warrior and even scored a half-century.
But England on the other hand were like beasts while batting, they took on every Indian bowler and set a huge total of 669 runs with a lead of 311 runs. It seemed that the English men had already conquered the Tests but India came back with a fighting comeback and the young side showed their grit with experienced players like KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja handling the innings. Now team India still has a chance to level the series in the fifth Test which will be held on July 31 at The Oval.
