Ellyse Perry has been in incredible form and making waves in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, as she tops the list of run-scorers in the history of the tournament. Even though her individual performances are impressive, her team, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has been losing, with all her efforts going in vain. In a nail-biting match on February 24, Perry’s incredible unbeaten 90 was not enough to stop RCB from losing against UP Warriorz in the Super Over at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Ellyse Perry’s Stunning Performance
Perry’s magnificent 90 off 56 balls, comprising three sixes and nine fours, was the highlight of RCB’s innings. She was admirably backed by Danni Wyatt-Hodge for most of the chase. RCB, after a mid-innings slump, managed to post a defendable score of 180, a score which they had defended against Delhi Capitals in a previous match of the tournament. This time, however, they could not defend it, as UP Warriorz staged a dramatic victory.
Perry Storms The WPL 2025
With 835 runs in her bag at an amazing average of 64.23 and strike rate of 133 from 21 matches, Perry is the leading run-getter in the history of WPL now. She broke former Australian colleague and Delhi Capitals’ captain Meg Lanning’s 782 runs mark. Perry was simply breathtakingly good this season as she smashed 235 runs from a mere four innings with a stunning average of 117.50 and a strike rate of 160.96.

RCB’s Struggles And Mandhana’s Concerns
While Perry’s batting excellence has been consistent, RCB’s overall performance has been patchy. Skipper Smriti Mandhana’s form continues to be a big worry for the team, with her contribution being restricted to a few individual innings. As defending champions, RCB has now lost two games in a row and needs to put together wins to remain in the hunt for a top-three finish in the tournament.
