BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia, officially confirmed on Monday that fantasy sports comapny Dream11 has officially parted ways with Indian cricket. The firm had signed a three-year sponsorship agreement worth INR 358 crore back in July 2023, replacing Byju’s as the flagship sponsor of the national team. Dream11 was also a major contributor in the Indian Premier League (IPL) not only by way of franchise relationships but even as the leading sponsor of the tournament in 2020 following Vivo’s exit.
Devajit Saikia On Dream11’s Exit
“Under the new legislation, it will be difficult for BCCI to continue with Dream11 or any other identical gaming companies. So, there is a roadblock and I don’t think BCCI will be able to continue with Dream11 now. We are deliberating on an alternative course of action at this stage,” said Saikia to IANS.
“Dream 11 will not be with us anymore, under the new law. So we still have some time, at least 20 days or in fact, just about 15 days. So, if something develops within these 15-20 days, there will be a replacement. Otherwise, we’ll see how it will progress over a period of time.”

Online Gaming Bill 2025
The move follows the passing of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025 in Parliament’s two houses and approval by the President. Dream11 has already mentioned that it will put on hold all money-based gaming contests on its platform. Due to a clause for protection in its agreement, the company will not be penalized as the contract had safeguarded the sponsor if its main business was banned by the government.
