Dream 11: Replacing Ed-Tech firm Byjus, Dream XI acquired the Team India jersey lead sponsorship rights for the period of 2023-27. Byju’s was the principal jersey sponsor of Team India from 2019 till March this year. As per reports, BCCI will soon make an official announcement.
Dream XI was the title sponsor of IPL-2020
Dream XI was the title sponsor of IPL-2020 after the original title sponsor of the tournament, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo, backed out following a public backlash against Chinese companies amid the India-China border dispute. According to reports, the BCCI had kept the base price of the primary sponsor on the jersey at Rs 350 crore.
Adidas became kit sponsor last month
The board had last month appointed sports apparel giant Adidas as the new kit sponsor of Team India. Companies in the real-money gaming sectors, including betting, cryptocurrency, and tobacco, have been barred by the board from bidding for the sponsorship rights of Team India. Byju was paying BCCI Rs 5.5 crore for each bilateral match and Rs 1.7 crore for each ICC match, but BCCI is likely to get fewer offers from the new deal than the previous sponsor.
