Central Delhi Kings played against New Delhi Tigers in match number five of the Delhi Premier League and the Kings registered a dominant 9-wicket win. Batting first the New Delhi Tigers led by Himmat Singh could only set a low-scoring total of 124 runs.
The Tigers were not able to gain momentum while batting and failed to establish partnerships due to which the team wasn’t able to set a competitive total. No batter could register 30+ score and Central Delhi Kings’s bowlers ensured that the opposition was always on their toes.
It is the second consecutive match which the Central Delhi Kings have won with Yash Dhull emerging as a successful match winner. Dhull went through a lean patch in 2024 as he underwent a heart surgery and missed most of the DPL last year. He has even played in IPL thrice but could only manage to score 16 runs following which he was released from the Delhi Capitals squad. It has been very tough two years from 2022 to 2024 for Dhull as he first struggled from poor form and then serious health issues. In yesterday’s match against New Delhi Tigers, Dhull scored 55 runs after smashing a dashing century in the last match.
The other top scorer for the Kings was Siddharth Joon, who scored 45 runs and ensured that the low-scoring target was chased in just 13 overs. In the bowling department it was Gavnish Khurana who showcased his top-notch bowling skills to pick three crucial wickets. While both Money Grewal and Simarjeet Singh were able to bag two wickets each.
With a magnificent win, the Kings have solidified their position in the league and have become a tough side to beat.
