The second edition of Delhi Premier League (DPL) delivered another cracker as East Delhi Riders registered a five-wicket victory over Purani Dilli 6 in a high-scoring affair at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.

Pursuing a huge total, East Delhi Riders started well with a stunning opening partnership set by Arpit Rana and Sujal Singh, who registered a powerful 149-runs stand. The two right-handers took the initiative from the very start, dominating the bowlers to every corner of the field.

Arpit Rana hammered a scintillating 87 off only 52 balls, while Sujal played a more measured hand with a composed 59 off 46 balls. The duo’s partnership seemed to seal the deal before the match took a dramatic turn within few minutes.

Middle-Order Collapse Gives Purani Dilli 6 A Glimmer Of Hope

Just as the Riders seemed to cruise home, there was a sudden chaos in the 17th over. Purani Dilli 6 staged a comeback with a shower of wickets, dismissing both openers and sending the team into a collapse from 149/0 to 160/5 in no time. Momentum shifted for a brief moment in favor of the bowling team as the match was on the balance.

Mayank Rawat Finishes the Job In Style

When pressure was mounting and five wickets had fallen, Mayank Rawat proved to be the composed head the Riders required. Coming in at number five, Rawat soaked in the pressure and guided his team to a win with an unbeaten 22 from as many as 10 balls, wrapping up the victory calmly and confidently in the last but one over.

Pranav Pant Anchors Purani Dilli 6’s Strong Total

Purani Dilli 6 had earlier posted a challenging total of 182/8 when they were sent to bat first. The innings revolved around a classy performance by Pranav Pant, who made 64 off 41 deliveries, ticking over the scoreboard constantly.

He was ably backed by Samarth Seth, who contributed 35 from 23 balls, and skipper Vansh Bedi, who hit a 28 off 11 deliveries in quick time to provide the late flourish. Though the batting was so good, they could not stop the Riders’ gallant chase.

Navdeep Saini’s Bowling Masterclass

For East Delhi Riders, Navdeep Saini was the bowler in spotlight. East Delhi Riders registered an incredible win, as the team held their nerve to cross the finishing line. Purani Dilli 6 fought hard but will regret the fielding lapses and the failure to snap the opening partnership early.
