The West Delhi Lions registered a big win in match number seven of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) against the South Delhi Superstarz at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The Lions roared, with the opening partnership of Ankit Kumar and Krish Yadav completely dismantling South Delhi’s bowling lineup.
West Delhi Lions’ Dynamic Opening Duo
The Superstarz had opted to bat first after winning the toss, following which they had set a target of 186 runs. The opening duo of West Delhi Lions, Krish Yadav and Ankit Kumar put together a sensational 158-run partnership in just 14 overs. Krish impressed everyone with his magnificent knock of 67 off 42 deliveries, while Ankit Kumar wreaked havoc with his dynamic batting as he smashed 96 off 46 balls.
South Delhi Superstarz’s Get A Strong Start
Earlier in the day, South Delhi Superstarz had a flying start after they were put in to bat. The openers Kunwar Bidhuri (42 off 27) and Sumit Mathur (33 off 29) formed a strong 74-run opening partnership, providing their team with an ideal platform.
Captain Ayush Badoni then contributed a useful 48 from 25 balls, taking the innings through the middle overs. The Superstarz were unable to keep up the pressure, losing wickets in a hurry towards the back-end and ending up with 185/7 from their 20 overs.
Lions’ Bowlers Make A Strong Comeback In Death Overs
The West Delhi bowling attack got going in the last overs to stop South Delhi from making a big finish. Anirudh Chowdhary was the best bowler, taking good figures of 3/25 from his 4-over spell.
He was ably aided by Manan Bhardwaj, who took 2/23, while Hrithik Shokeen contributed a neat 1/16, as the Lions bowlers applied pressure at the death and never allowed South Delhi to open up.
