The most-awaited comeback in Ranji Trophy is of Virat Kohli as he’ll be featuring after 13 years. Kohli reached Delhi and joined the team on Tuesday, January 28 for intense training session. On the day 2 of practice session Delhi captain Ayush Badoni revealed tha Virat Kohli will be batting at no.4 position.
“He will bat at No. 4. He has told us to be positive and express ourselves confidently,” said Badoni, as quoted by PTI.
“I have played against Virat bhaiya in the IPL. It is an honour that in back to back matches I have now led Rishabh and Virat bhaiya.”
Virat Kohli decided to play Ranji after Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) gave strict directive requiring senior players to participate in domestic cricket for national selection. Hence, several top Indian players including Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal played in Ranji Trophy.

Before linking up with the Delhi squad, Virat Kohli trained in Mumbai under former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar where he was seen focusing on short-pitched delivery. He joined the training session on Tuesday, January 28 under captain Ayush Badoni at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Virat Kohli made his Ranji Trophy debut in November 2006 against Tamil Nadu and he last played against Uttar Pradesh in November 2012. In 23 Ranji appearances Virat has accumulated 1,547 runs which includes five centuries. It is also important to note that since his Test debut in 2011, Virat Kohli has played only one domestic first-class match.
