Jay Shah has taken charge as the new ICC chairman and he faces immediate challenges, foremost among them being the 2025 Champions Trophy. Now, it has further escalated after Pakistan resistance to a suggested “hybrid model”.

“If not, then ICC Board might have to shift the tournament entirely to a different country (could be UAE too) but it will be held without Pakistan,” he added
Hybrid Model Debate: Pakistan On CrossRoads
PTI reports that the ICC has said that Pakistan must either accept hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 under the ‘Hybrid’ model or face exclusion from the tournament. This is after an inconclusive executive board meeting was held on November 29, where Pakistan refused to accept the model despite concerns from India over security. The hybrid model has been viewed as a feasible one, where matches played between India and Pakistan are scheduled in the UAE so that the tournament can move forward despite the political and security hurdles.
