The ICC has confirmed that Pakistan will be hosting the Champions Trophy 2025 with India-Pakistan matches taking place in a neutral venue. Now a big question that arises is what will be India’s squad for the 50 over tournament. India’s matches are likely to start from 20th February with the first match against Bangladesh.
Rohit Sharma is likely to lead the Indian contingent and with this we can likely see his recent opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal who can potentially earn his maiden call-up keeping in mind his stellar 2024 year and consistency with bat. Shubman Gill’s record in Asia is absolutely stunning and the selectors could be eyeing for him.
Other big names will be Virat Kohli and KL Rahul who are likely to feature in the marquee event. In the ODI World Cup 2023 both Virat Kohli and KL Rahul had done a fantastic job and finished the tournament on a very high note. Shreyas Iyer is other big name, he has shown exceptional performance in the domestic circuit over the past few months and his name will definitely be in consideration as he has proven himself as the top contender. Rishabh Pant went through a horrific accident in December 2022 but he made a comeback to remember, this year he has been the talk of the town and his excellence in the game can likely put him back in the squad for Champions Trophy 2025.
In terms of India’s all-round department Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, and Washington Sundar will be eyeing a spot and likely to travel with the team keeping in mind their great potential. As far as India’s pace attack is concerned Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj. But with new upcoming talent India will be facing a big dilemma to pick the best of the best. Arshdeep Singh is another dynamic pacer that can make the cut.
