The hopes very high as it was expected that ICC would release the final schedule by December 11 but now that it is delayed further more uncertainty has been added. A virtual meeting was also held on December 7 to address the disagreements, but the still there was no decision. A new report has surfaced that has claimed a final decision on Champions Trophy 2025 is expected to come by end of this week.
PCB In Dubai For Key Negotiations
Reports by Times of Karachi indicate that key officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board are in Dubai and attending meetings with the International Cricket Council regarding arrangements for the event. The discussions are held at the executive level, and PCB is insisting on their proposed “fusion model.”
Is Fusion Model: A Possible Solution?
This “fusion model,” which has become the prime point of negotiation, can make it possible for Pakistan to host its matches at a neutral venue, and Dubai can be the most likely place where both Pakistan and India would be playing their games. This formula, ICC officials are reportedly thinking, could be the one that ends the deadlock that exists between PCB and BCCI.
What’s The Future Of India-Pakistan Matches?
The adoption of the fusion model would result in Pakistan playing its matches at a neutral venue for three years. These three years would also coincide with significant ICC events that are scheduled to be held in India, such as the Women’s World Cup in 2025, the T20 World Cup co-hosted with Sri Lanka in 2026, and the Champions Trophy in 2027.
In its attempt to break the logjam, PCB proposed a fusion model as the way forward to settle the issue without a formal vote, but a final decision in the matter is expected to come this week.
