There has always been one question of whether anyone could ever get close to Sachin Tendulkar and his iconic milestone of 100 international centuries. Today, however, the conversation has come back to life and Virat Kohli is the perfect player to achieve this milestone. With 84 international centuries already, Kohli is back in his prime again despite retiring from two formats – Tests and T20Is.
New peak at 36? Kohli’s form says YES
Virat Kohli’s performance this year has been magnificent, after being the top performer in Champions Trophy he returned back to international cricket to play three-match ODI series against Australia. In that series he was out for two consecutive ducks but Kohli bounced back even stronger and scored 74 runs in the third ODI at Sydney.

He then played the three-match ODI series against South Africa and accumulated 302 runs. Kohli has time and then proved why he is the ultimate legend of the game, if he can get out for two consecutive ducks then he can also score two back-to-back centuries. That’s what he did exactly – scoring two consecutive centuries against Proteas in 1st and 2nd ODI. Even in the third ODI, he anchored the innings and played a magnificent knock of 65 runs off 45 balls.
Can Virat Kohli score 100 centuries?
The Indian team is all set to play 35 ODIs from now until the 2027 ODI World Cup and if Kohli continues with this form and fitness then the 100 centuries milestone is definitely achievable. There has been a lot of noise and many questions have been raised on him after his Test retirement with critics pointing out what went wrong for him but Kohli has always roared back with his stunning performances. Now he roughly has 2.5-3 years to achieve this milestone with 16 more centuries to be scored. Considering Kohli has now hit three centuries in the last 10 ODIs played, the math doesn’t look unrealistic anymore.
