Shane Watson, the former Australian all-rounder believes that Rishabh Pant is ready to shine in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, which begins this November in Australia. According to him, if Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah get in the right rhythm, they would be a huge challenge for the Australian team in their home ground.
Rishabh Pant: An Asset For Team India
Pant made a spectacular comeback to red-ball cricket in the recently played series against Bangladesh, hitting a fantastic century in the second innings of his game at Chennai. During the series, he did an equally impressive job behind the wicket too. India fans would recall Pant’s brilliant show in the field when he played in Australia and especially in the Gabba match that clinched the series for India in the 2020-21 series. The match encouraged Watson to name him as one of the key players for India.

“He’s [Pant] obviously got great memories from his last tour that he had from a batting perspective in Australia,” Watson said. “That innings he played at the Gabba was something very special. So knowing that he’s come through his challenges in the last couple of years to be able to come back as an even better player than what he left off, I think he’s going to have a big series.”
While speaking at the launch of the International Masters League in Mumbai, as reported by ESPNCricinfo, Watson maintained that Rishabh Pant is going to take some great memories from Australia and that has been very important for him to know his standing in this match at the Gabba. He feels that Pant has come back an even stronger player after recovering from the car accident.
Jasprit Bumrah: The Most Difficult Challenge For Aussies
Watson also praised Bumrah saying that the pacer will be causing great problems in this series against Australia.

“Also, Bumrah is someone who in Australian conditions – well, in all conditions really – he’s so good. [With] his ability to be able to just take wickets and get batters out, he’s going to be very effective in Australia as well. So those two guys, if they have big series, they can really provide Australia some big challenges,” said Watson.
