Steve Smith had to leave the nets after he injured his finger during a practice session in Adelaide, just days before the crucial pink ball Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Smith is one of the most important players in Australia’s batting lineup and was hit by a throwdown from teammate Marnus Labuschagne.
Injury Concern For Australia
This incident adds to the growing injury woes of Australia; Josh Hazlewood, already ruled out for the second Test of the series. Exclusive footage from the Australian camp’s net session that India Today has accessed, will show the moment the Smith sustained the injury, and complicated Australia’s already fragile batting position.

Australia In Deep Trouble
It was evident the batting was an issue that Australia was struggling with in this Perth Test as they succumbed to be bowled out for 104 as well, and a heavy margin of 295 runs ultimately resulted in defeat. In a match against India’s PM XI, only two uncapped players showed promise: Sam Konstas and Hanno Jacobs are unlikely to turn up for the second test. Even with Josh Inglis available as a cover, the absence of Smith will leave Australia with much to be concerned about the batting depth.
