Fans wanting a dose of Vaibhav Suryavanshi now have to wait a little longer. Having set the stage ablaze in the Under-19 Asia Cup 2025 and made a flamboyant entry in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, this 14-year-old batting prodigy has now been asked to bow out of the competition, but for a reason that is anything but disappointing.
Vaibhav’s Record-Breaking 190
The Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 season began on December 24, and Vaibhav was quick to make the news. In his first-ever game for Bihar against Arunachal Pradesh, the left-handed opener played one of the most incredible innings ever witnessed in List A cricket.
Vaibhav hit an astonishing 190 off just 84 balls, leaving the bowlers bewildered and the records in shambles. His knock consisted of an awe-inspiring dash to reach 150 off just 59 balls, smashing the world record held by AB de Villiers in List A cricket for the fastest 150. This display took Bihar’s total to 574 runs and clinched a match in no time, earning Vaibhav an immediate spot in the headlines as the most discussed player in the tournament.
Why Vaibhav has left the tournament?
Even with such an impressive start, Vaibhav will not be playing for the remaining matches for Bihar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy league. Such a decision has not gone unnoticed, and the reason is very special indeed. The young wonder kid has been awarded the Prime Minister’s National Child Award.
The award would be presented by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday, 26th December. As a part of the event, he also gets to have a meeting with Prime Minister Modi. To make it to this remarkable occasion, he traveled to Delhi immediately after Bihar’s first match.
