BCCI Drops Big Statement On Whether Virat Kohli And Rohit Sharma Were Forced To Retire, Says ‘It Is The Policy Of…’

BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla finally broke silence and mentioned about the ongoing speculation on whether Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were forced to retire from Tests.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma the two important players of Indian cricket formally retired from Test format, leaving the public stunned and heartbroken. Most assumed the veteran pair would give one last shot at a historic Test series victory over England, something India hadn’t done since 2007. Both came agonizingly close during the 2021–22 tour, but the rearranged fifth Test at Edgbaston ended in despair. In spite of recent batting woes, their experience was considered most important for one final push.

BCCI VP Rajeev Shukla Clears The Air

Speaking to ANI in London, Rajeev Shukla mentioned about Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s decision to retire and BCCI had no involvement in that.

“I want to make it very clear once and for all. We are all feeling the absence of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The decision to retire was made by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli on their own. It is the policy of BCCI that we never tell any player to retire. It was their call,” Shukla said.
