The BCCI all set to hold an Annual General Meeting on December 22 where the central contracts of senior players – Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be the main point of discussion. The meeting will be held virtually and their contract will be reviewed and structure for domestic women’s cricketers will also be under review according to a report by PTI.
Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have already stepped away from T20Is in 2024 and the from Tests in 2025. But despite that they have continued in the A+ category for the 2024-25 cycle along with Ravindra Jadeja and Jasprit Bumrah.

The new contract cycle is now approaching and BCCI will be deciding whether the veteran batters will remain in the A+ category of not. If Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are downgraded then they will also have a pay cut which means they will receive INR 5 crores.

The PTI reported also noted that Shubman Gill will be getting promoted to A+ category. Ravindra Jadeja who served as the vice-captain in the last Test series and Jasprit Bumrah will also be the main point of discussion The meeting will be the first after Mithun Manhas got appointed as the BCCI president and Raghuram Bhatt became the treasurer.
Both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma were a part of Champions Trophy this year following which they made their international comeback after long hiatus in October 2025 for the three-match ODI series against Australia. In Australia series, Rohit Sharma was awarded as the ‘Player of the series’ for being the highest run-scorer and he even smashed 121 runs in the third ODI. During the South Africa series, Virat Kohli was awarded the ‘Player of the series’ title and he was seen in top form – smashing 2 back-to-back centuries. Both Kohli and Rohit have time and then showed their masterclass whenever they play providing a major boost to India’s batting lineup. Now a crucial topic of discussion will be their central contract which will be addressed in the meeting that BCCI will hold shortly.
