Former India captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are most likely to see a change in their central contracts for the upcoming cycle when the BCCI will be announcing the list of its AGM on December 22. Both the players currently have the A+ Grade contracts and earn INR 7 crores per year, but now their contracts will be under review.
The Grade A+ category is reserved for cricketers who play all the three formats – Tests, T20Is and ODIs. But in Kohli and Rohit’s case they have already retired from two formats and only feature in ODIs which is the biggest reason that they might get demoted to A category. Now if this happens then they will have a pay cut of INR 2 crores as the A category gives their players INR 5 crores per year.
BCCI will be conducting a meeting to discuss the contracts and both Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will again be the main point of focus. The meeting will be the first after Mithun Manhas got appointed as the BCCI president and Raghuram Bhatt became the treasurer.

India’s star all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja is expected to retain the A+ category because he has just stepped away from one format which is the T20Is after India won the T20 World Cup. Shubman Gill is currently a Grade A player and he will be shifted to A+ category as he features in all the three formats and is the new Indian skipper in Tests and ODIs. It is also important to note that there is a strong possibility that Gill who currently supports Suryakumar Yadav as vice-captain in T20Is and is poised to become India’s all-format captain after the 2026 World Cup.
