Bad News for Fans: Virat Kohli Won’t Play at Chinnaswamy Stadium as Vijay Hazare Trophy matches shifted to BCCI CoE

Virat Kohli will not be playing at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru as all the matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy have been shifted to BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE).

Virat Kohli will not be playing at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru as all the matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy have been shifted to BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) as reported by Cricbuzz.

The decision comes after a directive from Karnataka government citing security concerns. The change also includes the match which was supposed to be held on Wednesday, December 24 between Delhi and Andhra Pradesh. The match also features India’s star players Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant. The development has been confirmed to Cricbuzz by Karnataka State Cricket Association official.

Both the participating teams were informed about the decision and their pre-match training will now be held in the BCCI Centre of Excellence. This also means that all Vijay Hazare Trophy matches will be conducted without spectators.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium has been Kohli’s home ground for his IPL team Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Earlier it was even reported by the ESPNCricinfo that the matches will not have any spectators but now the matches have been completely shifted. The KSCA which is in charge of all the logistics has assured that all the matches held in Bengaluru will have tight security and will be played behind closed doors.

Virat Kohli last played 50-over cricket for Delhi in September 2013, he was a part of NKP Salve Challenger Trophy. Kohli last played the Vijay Hazare Trophy in 2009-10 where he led Delhi in both the tournaments.
