Babar Azam's lean spell with the bat is still deepening, bringing a worrying trend in the eyes of fans and ex-players as well. More than two years have passed since the dashing right-hander last recorded a century in international cricket an unprecedented lean spell for a player who once headed the ICC rankings across all the formats. His recent lean spell has not only impacted his personal statistics but has also seen Pakistan's dismal outings on the global circuit.
Zaheer Abbas Sharp Verdict On Babar Azam
Previous skipper Zaheer Abbas has opined in Babar's case that the star batter must shed his ego and approach senior players for advice. Referring to an instance when India's Mohammad Azharuddin approached him at a low point in his life, Zaheer stressed the importance of guidance. In Zaheer's opinion, Babar's technique currently his crease position in particular is giving problems while handling the speed of the ball, and thus it is not easy to make changes in trying conditions.

"Either Babar Has An Ego Issue Or Is Too Shy"
Zaheer Abbas said while speaking to cricket Pakistan, "I have this impression that either Babar has an ego issue or is too shy to seek advice from his seniors in overcoming his current situation."
"I vividly recall how former Indian batsman Azharuddin had sought guidance from me on India's tour to Pakistan in 1989-90. He was struggling to find runs and I told him to change his batting grip. That really helped him regain confidence and improve his performance," he added.
"I have noticed that Babar's dismissals of late have had him hurriedly going into his shots, which clearly shows he is not finding time to adjust at the crease," said Zaheer Abbas.
Babar Azam Struggles With Poor Form
In the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as well, Babar has struggled. He's only scored a single run in the two games he has played till date. The national team has not been far behind, with the 3-0 whitewash in the ODI series against New Zealand under the leadership of Mohammad Rizwan as well. Compounding the gloom, Pakistan also failed to reach the next stage in the ICC Men's Champions Trophy, losing out on a semi-final spot. The selectors lately left Babar out of the T20I team for Pakistan in the series against New Zealand, a choice that was thought-provoking but maybe certain considering his run. Pakistan proceeded to lose 1-4.
