Australia’s star player withdraws hours before WPL 2026 auction – Here’s why!

The Australian player was a part of Delhi Capitals till last season but she has now informed about her withdrawal in pre-auction briefing.

Australia’s experienced all-rounder Jess Jonassen has pulled out of the Women’s Premier League 2026 mega auction as she remains on the sidelines while recovering from a chronic shoulder injury. Jonassen has been one of the mainstays for Delhi Capitals across all three seasons of the league and had informed franchises about her unavailability during the pre-auction briefing on November 26.

Jonassen has been a really impactful performer for Delhi Capitals in WPL. She picked up 33 wickets at an impressive average of 20.75, including a standout four-wicket haul. With the bat, the left-hander contributed 295 runs from 18 innings, averaging 24.58 while striking at 138.49. Her tally includes two half-centuries. The 33-year-old was significantly important and also Delhi Capitals to three successive finals, she also has collected seven Player of the Match awards along the way.

Meanwhile, another name that will appear in the list for the coming auction and is unlikely to figure in the next season is Pratika Rawal. Serious injury ruled her out during the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 league match against Bangladesh, following which she missed both semi-final and final. Shafali Verma replaced her for the rest of the tournament.

Injuries have also ruled out India’s wicketkeeper-batter Yashtika Bhatia and 19-year-old pacer VJ Joshitha. The latter, who featured for Royal Challengers Bengaluru last season, has not regained complete fitness as yet. All-rounder Pooja Vastrakar, a pace-bowling all-rounder, still continues on the road to regaining full fitness and could need more time before being able to return to competitive cricket.
