The ‘no-handshake’ controversy after the India vs Pakistan match concluded has aggravated even more and is showing no signs of fading away. The Pakistani team was left out in the open waiting while the Indian batters Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube directly went towards the changing room and shut the door. The left Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha and his squad awkwardly waiting near the Indian area for a handshake that never came. Even during the toss, both the captains didn’t shake hands and went their own way.
After India’s win, Suryakumar Yadav also dedicated the victory to the victims of Pahalgam attack, where 26 innocent civilians lost their lives. Despite all the boycott calls, Asia Cup fixture against Pakistan was played but the Indian team chose to skip the traditional handshake.
But one of the biggest question that still remains is whether India will be punished or not. According to the MCC Law, “Respect is central to the Spirit of Cricket. Congratulate the opposition on their successes, and enjoy those of your own team. Thank the officials and your opposition at the end of the match, whatever the result.”
“Cricket is an exciting game that encourages leadership, friendship and teamwork, which brings together people from different nationalities, cultures and religions, especially when played within the Spirit of Cricket,” it further added.
