Asia Cup 2025: Suryakumar Yadav lays down one condition in front of ACC if India wins trophy

The Indian team skipper Suryakumar Yadav has laid down one condition in front of Asian Cricket Council if India lifts the trophy.

The Asia Cup 2025 has become center of an escalating controversy involving India and Pakistan as the no-handshake row seems to have triggered many emotions. India decided to skip the traditional handshake after their group stage match against Pakistan – a gesture which came as per instructions of government. Following this the PCB expressed strong displeasure and the situation intensified to a point where Pakistan threatened boycott.

Now a new report by NDTV suggests that Suryakumar Yadav has laid down one condition in front of ACC that it will not be accepting trophy from Mohsin Naqvi if India wins Asia Cup 2025.

Recently, it was reported by ANI and PTI that ICC and PCB have reached middle ground in plea to replace match referee Andy Pycroft in only Pakistan matches. But an official statement is still awaited as far as Pycrof’s involvement in future matches is concerned.

The Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Mohsin Naqvi is expected to address the media soon and he is most likely to confirm Pakistan’s participation in the tournament. It has also been reported that Naqvi will voice lingering concerns, particulary around the unexpected on-field decisions like the no-handshake row. He is said to be okay with it if its pre-decided between the two teams.

Now, as per the sources cited by NDTV, Suryakumar Yadav has formally informed ACC underscoring the need for pre-decided protocols to avoid awkward moments during the final stages. In the last match against Pakistan, India won by seven wickets and straight away went back without shaking hands with the Pakistani side, which left everyone in the opposition fuming. In retaliation, Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha decided to skip the post-match presentation.
