Pakistan made a comeback after facing crushing defeat from India in the first match of Super Four Stage of Asia Cup 2025. The Men in Green clinched victory against Sri Lanka which has now lifted them on the second position in the points table. Even though they won, the qualification hopes still remain uncertain as Pakistan is the only side that has played two matches while India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka still have one match left.
Opting to bowl first, Pakistan’s pace attack looked a little better and Shaheen Shah Afridi took three wickets while Haris Rauf and Hussain Talat bagged two each as they restricted Sri Lanka to 133/8. Kamindu Mendis was the only performer for Sri Lanka who registered a half-century while the batting order was completely dismantled.
Earlier, in the Super Fours, India still remains unbeaten in the tournament and the Men in Blue have handed bitter defeat to Pakistan 2 times in the same tournament. That result propelled them to the top of the standings after the opening round of matches. Looking ahead, India are scheduled to face Bangladesh on Wednesday and Sri Lanka on Friday, with both games taking place in Dubai.
