Former India cricketer Mohammad Kaif has reacted strongly after India’s squad for Asia Cup 2025 was announced. He focused specifically on Axar Patel getting removed as vice-captain. Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the squad with Shubman Gill as the new vice captain. Kaif feels that Axar Patel deserves an explanation from the team management.

“I hope Axar Patel was informed about his removal from vice-captaincy in advance and he didn’t come to know about it from the press conference. Axar did no wrong so he deserves an explanation,” wrote Kaif on his X account.

Axar Patel has played 71 T20Is in his career where he has scored 535 runs and picked 71 wickets.
India will be will be starting their Asia Cup campaign from September 10 but there has been a lot of debate related to the recently released squad. The two key names that have been missing for the squad are Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shreyas Iyer who were not able find a place. The tournament will be held in a T20 format which will also serve as a preparation ground for the upcoming T20 World Cup in 2026.
