Pakistan head coach Mike Hesson was visibly frustrated after India’s players opted not to engage in the traditional post-match handshake in their match at Asia Cup 2025. The match between the two nations took place on Sunday, September 14 and India secured a dominant seven wicket-win chasing down a mere target of 128.
After the win, both Suryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube directly went to the dressing room without acknowledging Pakistani players. The Indian team ignored the customary handshake and even though Pakistan skipper Salman Agha and head coach Mike Hesson waited near the Indian team area, no one showed up to shake hands.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Hesson confirmed that the Pakistani players were prepared for the usual handshake ritual, but chose to walk away when it became evident that no Indian players were coming out to reciprocate.
“Obviously, we were ready to shake hands at the end of the game. We were disappointed that our opposition didn’t do that. We went over there to shake hands, and they’d already gone into the changing room,” Hesson told reporters.
“That was a disappointing way for the match to finish. We were disappointed in the way we played, but certainly were willing to go and shake hands,” he added.
