Haris Rauf opens up about the controversy that took place ahead of match against UAE in Asia Cup 2025

The Pakistan cricket team pacer Haris Rauf it crystal clear that the teammates were not affected by any controversy that was going on off the field. It all started after India vs Pakistan match, as soon as the match was over the Indian players walked straight back without shaking hands with the Pakistani side. This fumed the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the head coach Mike Hesson and captain Salman Ali Agha. As a retaliation, Salman Ali Agha did not show up for post-match presentation and PCB also registered a complaint against match referee Andy Pycroft.

Pakistan played match against UAE despite "boycott" threat

PCB threatened to boycott the Asia Cup 2025 if Andy Pycroft wasn't replaced but ICC rejected its plea and before the match against UAE, Pakistan created chaos. The match started an hour late as Pakistan was have discussions and was deliberating whether to play or not. They even claimed that Andy Pycroft apologized for his mistake following which Pakistan changed its decision and played the match.

Haris Rauf and teammates unaffected by controversy

In midst of all this chaos, Pakistani cricketer Haris Rauf mentioned that he "wasn't feeling any pressure"

"I wasn't feeling any pressure. This is not in my control. These are decisions for the board; it's their headache," Rauf opined at the post-match press conference. "For me, I had to play the match, my focus was on that. The management have handled things pretty well."

Making most of every opportunity - says Rauf

"It's not my domain to speak on who plays and who doesn't-that's for the coaches and captain," Rauf said

"As a player, if we get the opportunity, it's on us to make the most of it. As for the batsmen, I'm sure they are discussing things among themselves. We have a few days before the next game, so hopefully we can prepare well."
