Asia Cup 2023: Sri Lanka Announces Squad; Key Players To Miss Tournament
Sri Lanka Asia Cup 2023 Squad: Sri Lanka Cricket Board announced a 15-man squad for the Asia Cup 2023 on Tuesday. Leg-spinner and all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga missed the squad as he is coping with injury. Fast bowlers Dushmantha Chameera, Lahiru Madushanka, and Lahiru Kumara have also been ruled out from the squad due to injuries.
Binura Fernando and Pramod Madushan have got chances in the squad in place of injured players.
Kusal Perera makes comeback
According to a statement from Sri Lanka Cricket, Kusal Perera, who is returning to the ODI side after two years, is still recovering from flu. He will join the rest of the team only after he recovers. Hasaranga, on the other hand, is recovering from a thigh strain that he suffered during the Lanka Premier League. He was the top run scorer and highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
Sri Lanka's first match in the Asia Cup will be against Bangladesh on August 31 at Pallekele. The Asia Cup begins on August 30 with a match between Pakistan and Nepal.
