Asia Cup 2023: The matches of Asia Cup 2023 are being played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka (host nations). As major matches including finals of the tournament are scheduled in Sri Lanka, a concern of rain is always there. So far, most of the matches played in the island nation have witnessed disruption due to rain. Amid all this, the major concern arises for the final match. The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has not proposed any reserve day for the final match.
In such a situation If the final match cannot be completed due to rain, then both the teams will be declared winners and the trophy will be shared.
The final match of the Asia Cup is to be played on September 17. Since there is no reserve day, questions are arising over the board’s decision to organize matches in Sri Lanka in the monsoon session.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already said that they wanted to organize the matches in UAE instead of Sri Lanka considering the rainy season, But ACC President Jay Shah chose Sri Lanka as an option instead of UAE.
Earlier The Asia Cup 2023 was scheduled in Pakistan, but India refused to send their team to Pakistan for security reasons. Following the controversy, it was decided that Sri Lanka and Pakistan would jointly host the tournament.
Four matches are scheduled to be organized in Pakistan and the remaining 9 matches are set to be played in Sri Lanka. The Indian team, however, will play all its matches in Sri Lanka only.
