Asia Cup 2023, India VS Nepal: India beat Nepal in a rain-interrupted match at Pallekale on Monday to secure a place in the Super 4 of the Asia Cup 2023. After the win, India may face Pakistan for another blockbuster match in the tournament. On September 10, the two arch-rivals will face each other.
Nepal did not make it easy for India. Their batsmen showed plenty of guts to score 230 and although the Nepalese bowlers did not trouble India’s two openers in the short patches.
Rohit Sharma hit his 49th ODI half-century to overtake Virat Kohli’s 1046 runs to become the highest run-scorer for India in the Asia Cup. Rohit is currently second in the list of highest run scorers in Asia Cup history. Rohit’s opening partner Shubman Gill took valuable time in the middle to reach his 7th ODI fifty. Rohit remained unbeaten on 74 and Gill scored the winning run to take his tally to 67 as India completed the chase in the 21st over.
Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja took 3 for 40 off the bowling and joined Irfan Pathan as India’s leading wicket-taker in the Asia Cup (ODIs). Mohammad Siraj started poorly with the ball and finished with 3 wickets.
