Asia Cup 2023: India Defeats Sri Lanka By 41 Runs; Enters Into Final For 10th Time

Asia Cup 2023: After a win against Sri Lanka in the Super 4 game, The Indian team secured its place in the finals for the 10th time. Rohit’s Army defeated Sri Lanka by 41. Earlier on Monday, India registered a massive victory over Pakistan on Reserve Day. The Indian team defeated Pakistan by 228 runs.

After scoring 213 runs while batting first, India bowled out Sri Lanka’s innings for 172 runs in 41.3 overs. Mystery spinner Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets spending 43 runs. For Sri Lanka, Dunith Village scored an unbeaten 42, while Dhananjay de Silva scored 41 runs.

India’s Performance

Batting first, India scored 213 runs in 49.1 overs, in response to which the entire Sri Lankan team returned to the pavilion after scoring 172 runs in 41.3 overs. The fielder had also contributed well to India’s victory. Kuldeep Yadav, who took five wickets against Pakistan, performed brilliantly against Sri Lanka and took four wickets for 43 runs, while Ravindra Jadeja, who did not bat well, took the wickets of captain Dasun Shanka (9) and Dhananjay de Silva (41). 

In early overs, Jasprit Bumrah gave wings to India’s hopes by taking the wickets of Pathum Nissanka (6) and Kusal Mendis (15). Dimuth Karunaratne (2) was dismissed by Mohammad Siraj.

Dunith Wellalage’s all-around performance

Despite India’s victory, Sri Lankan all-rounder Dunith Village was the center of attraction throughout the match. Twenty-year-old young player restricted India’s innings to a low score. He took five important wickets. Later, He also played a brilliant innings of 42 runs (unbeaten). 

For his all-around performance, Vellalage was declared player of the match.
