Alex Carey smashed a stunning century in the third Test of Ashes against England, but the knock turned out to extremely emotional as his father had just passed away few months back. The Australian wicket-keeper batter reached his ton in attendance of his family and close friends which made the moment even more special.
The 34-year old batter has already showed exceptional wicket-keeping skills during the Brisbane Test and now he showed his commendable batting which guided Australia to 326 for 8 at stumps. After smashing a magnificent century, Carey looked towards the sky and pumped his fist. His wife Eloise was also visibly emotional in the stands as this was his first century since his father passed away in September after a long battle withleukaemia, and Carey later described the innings as a truly special moment.

“Probably won’t go into too much depth thinking through the reasons why, I’ll probably get emotional, but yeah, it was great,” he said.
“Dad played the biggest role probably in my cricket, coached me all the way through as dads want to do,” he added

“Sort of let me go once I got into my older teenage years, but would always shoot a message and (say) put the reverse sweep away and keep hard on me.”
Alex Carey was excellent while batting as he hit 106 off 143 deliveries and his knock proved to be extremely crucial as Australia was already rocked by early setbacks.
