Sam Konstas has been left out of the Australia squad for opening Ashes Test against England while Jake Weatherald has received his maiden call-up in the squad. The selectors have announced a 15-member squad that offers a great balance in batting and bowling options.
Marnus Labuschagne who was earlier dropped during the West Indies tour is now expected to make his return in the playing XI after a stunning domestic season. All-rounders Cameron Green and Beau Webster have now retained their spots. Pat Cummins is still recovering from lumbar stress injury and Steve Smith will be leading in his absence.

The likely bowling attack that will definitely feature Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Scott Boland and Nathan Lyon in the playing XI and they will get support from one of the all-rounders. Brendan Doggett and Sean Abbott have been named as backup fast bowlers. Doggett rejoins the squad after missing the Caribbean tour due to a hip injury, while Abbott continues in the reserves after filling the same role on tours of the West Indies and Sri Lanka earlier in the year.
Josh Inglis has been included as reserve wicket-keeper but he also adds extra batting depth. The first Test of Ashes will be starting from November 21 and will be held at Optus Stadium in Perth.
