cha, the Rajasthan Royals Director of High Performance, has called for chief selector Ajit Agarkar to take Vaibhav Suryavanshi seriously for senior team selection in the future, opining firmly that the Bihar-based young left-hand batter could do something special for India. Recalling the example of Sachin Tendulkar’s early emergence, Barucha recalled how the cricket icon was identified young and debuted for India at 16 against Pakistan in 1989.
“He should be blooded into the senior team immediately, like Sachin was all those years ago,” Bharucha told Times of India.

“They have to blood this guy immediately, boss, because he is in another zone only. At least send him on an India A tour. Send him to India A immediately. I’m telling you, this Australian attack that is here, bowling to India A guys, he would have got a double hundred,” he added.
At the age of 14, Suryavanshi has created ripples on several tiers of the game already. Although he has yet to force his way into the India A team, he’s been a regular achiever with the U19 side, touring England and Australia. His meteoric ascent started after registering his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals earlier this year, when he surprised fans by hitting the quickest century by an Indian in the history of the IPL reaching the figure in 35 balls against Shubman Gill’s Gujarat Titans.

Suryavanshi’s exploits didn’t stop there. He went on to score the fastest hundred in youth ODI history during India’s tour of England at Worcester. Having made his first-class debut at the age of 12, the prodigy first grabbed national attention when he struck a century against Australia U19 in a Youth Test – a performance that earned him a lucrative INR 1.10 crore IPL contract with Rajasthan Royals.
Barucha’s endorsement has once again focused attention on Suryavanshi, who is now regarded by many as India’s next batting star in the making.
